In a post on its website, Laurier said the words expressed by the student were "offensive and hurtful."
The university says the involved student has apologized, but notes the incident shows there is an ongoing need to address bigotry and systemic racism.
The school is offering support and resources related to equity, diversity, and inclusion to all students, faculty, and staff.
