A prestigious honour from the National Basketball League is going to a local sports executive.
Melissa Melnychuk is the Vice President of Business Development of the KW Titans, and has been named the Ian Fowler Executive of the Year.
This marks the second time the award has gone to a woman, and is given to the top member of the NBL Canada's executive committee.
Thanks to Melnychuk's efforts, attendance of KW Titans games increased by 24 per cent, and gross revenue per game saw a jump of 33 per cent.
She also led the charge on expanding the team's digital media presence, leading to a 41 per cent increase in social media growth.
"Melissa did a remarkable job in leading the transformation of the KW Titan's brand in her first year with the team", said deputy commissioner Audley Stephenson in a release. "Fans were treated to a unique and memorable experience whether they interacted with the team digitally, at a community event or during a live game."
