KW Counselling Services is offering a program for parents to deal with anger issues stemming from the day to day challenges of parenting.
Aptly named, "Anger Management for Parents", the program has existed for 12 years in one form or another; aimed at providing a space for parents to discuss their issues with one another.
Whether they cross the line and took out their anger on their loved ones or yelled and said something they regret afterwards.
Diane McGregor with KW Counselling Services, who facilitated the program before, says the parents really benefited from attending.
"So that they get this idea, like "I'm not the only parent who has this kind of challenge". It's so empowering for people to kind of share experiences with each other and then come up with different solutions," she says.
Parents would discuss and learn about where their anger in parenting comes from. They would learn to recognize their triggers and developing strategies for them. The curriculum would also touch on how to deal with children and their anger issues as well.
"We're addressing the kind of regular day to day kinds of parenting challenges that any parent could bump into to," McGregor added.
The program runs for six weeks starting this Monday, October 15th.
