Kitchener city council is allowing a resident to keep ducks in her backyard.
Laura McQuillan went to council to make the request back in March, and city staff looked into it, with the help of the Humane Society.
Turns out many of the regulations in place that govern backyard hens can apply, but there are differences.
The most noticeable difference is that ducks require a water source at all times to keep their eyes, bills, feathers and feet in good condition.
Council voted unanimously in favour of the motion Monday night.
