Regional Police say a man has been charged with robbery and kidnapping in connection to an incident in Kitchener, while one suspect is still on the loose.
Police say they responded to a robbery in progress at the Candy Corner convenience store on Countryhill Drive on Friday, September 7, around 10:30 p.m.
An employee closed the store for the evening and was walking outside when he was approached by two men and forced back into the store at knife point.
The two men reportedly tried to get into the ATM inside the store. Luckily a witness noticed the incident and quickly called police, who arrived a short time later.
A man was arrested a near the convenience store, police have charged him with robbery and kidnapping.
Police say they also recovered a gun nearby the scene.
The other suspect got away. Police say they are searching for a man described as black, with a thin build. He was wearing a blue hoodie, black pants, white shoes, and carrying a black backpack.
