If you're heading out in Kitchener on Saturday - keep an eye and ear out for local, live music all across the city.
The City of Kitchener's "Love My Hood" initiative will be celebrating Neighbours Day 2021 with "small, intimate pop-up concerts" in Kitchener neighbourhoods. There will be over 20 local musicians providing their talents in every nook and cranny.
Residents are encouraged to lace up their sneakers, grab a lawn chair and a walking partner and head out into their neighbourhood in search of the performances, as the city notes that the locations and times of those concerts will not be shared in advance, though they did hint there may be the occasional tease of information on their social media pages.
The city also notes that concert start times will vary by neighbourhood, with performances held between 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. - everywhere from driveways and front lawns to boulevards and porches.
In the spirit of Neighbours Day 2021, residents are also encouraged to "bring their neighbours together" in their own way - whether it be by performing a good deed for a neighbour they care about, supporting local business, hosting a garage sale or going on a picnic to a favourite local spot.
A list of local musicians participating in this year's initiative can be found here.
