The City of Cambridge, City of Kitchener and Region of Waterloo will conduct a joint emergency management exercise Thursday morning.

This full-scale exercise will focus on a cross-jurisdiction incident engaging about 300 people with the intent to test emergency management policies and procedures to respond to a large scale incident in the Waterloo Region.

Emergency response exercises, such as this one, are essential to ensuring staff have the training and practical experience to respond effectively to situations involving multiple agencies, emergency management partners and other stakeholders.

This scenario involves a simulated truck accident and chemical spill near Conestoga College in Cambridge. Throughout the morning, those in the immediate area may witness:

Emergency response units and personnel on or near the site
Volunteer actors from Conestoga College serving in various roles, including actors acting as injured victims and being assessed by emergency personnel.
Debris and smoke plume effects
