Kitchener-Waterloo Association of Realtors hosted its first Realtor Run and raised over $25,000 for the region's Habitat for Humanity.
Occurring the week of September 28 to October 4, this walk or run, with KWAR members' support, raised $16,700 in donations, with an additional $10,000 donation given by KWAR.
"We had 63 individuals journey five kilometres in the region, covering 315 kilometres," said KWAR President Colleen Koehler. "Next year, we look forward to exploring even more of this beautiful community we are fortunate to call home.”
KWAR said in a release that a safe place to call home is very important to them as it is only fitting to support a cause that helps make housing more accessible in the community.
Habitat for Humanity Waterloo Region has provided homes for over 140 families since it started in 1988. They work to bridge the gap for lower-income and working families by providing them with the opportunity to purchase their own habitat home.
