Habitat for Humanity Waterloo Region has kicked-off a new campaign aimed at building four new homes.
The organization said the COVID-19 pandemic has amplified the need for more affordable housing.
"We definitely needed to find some new ways to raise some money so we can continue to build homes for families here in Waterloo Region," said Janine Armstrong, Habitat for Humanity Waterloo Region's Director of Community Outreach.
Pandemic changes have also meant no more volunteering with the labour, meaning finding new ways to engage partners and community members.
The new Brick4Brick campaign sees Habitat for Humanity teaming up with Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada.
"A 'brick' is a donation that is equivalent to $2,500," said Armstrong. "So that might be more of our corporate partners, or friends and families that gather together and say 'let's buy a brick for Habitat this year'."
Armstrong said smaller donations will go toward what she called ''community bricks.''
All donations made before Dec. 31, 2020 are being matched by TMMC.
