Talks are slated to resume Friday afternoon, aimed at averting a strike by 55,000 education support workers.

If a strike happens, several school boards in Ontario say they will be forced to cancel all classes - including the Waterloo Catholic District School Board

Carolyn Ferns is with the Ontario Coalition for Better Child Care.

She tells Kitchener Today with Brian Bourke on 570 NEWS that she's been fielding calls from worried parents.

"We're encouraging parents to start to look at what the backup child care options are."

The City of Cambridge is setting up a temporary, affordable day camp for children between the age of 4 and 12.

Registration is now open, and if school resumes on Monday - the city says you'll be fully refunded.

The City of Kitchener will also offer daily programming at the Lions Arena.
