Over the last three years, Adrian's family has gone through extremely tough times, but this year especially really tested them.
In addition to facing eviction this October, Adrian's wife, Trina, mother of their two young daughters, lost her long fight with bone marrow cancer and passed away on October 12.
"It hasn't been easy, you know. Trying to get through. Trying to get through the hardship and the holidays and you know, just counting our blessings, just grateful for the memories," Adrian says.
Adrian was nominated by their good friend Lesley, who describes Trina as the "heart and soul" of their family.
"This past year has been devastating for this family, both financially and emotionally. Adrian is now forced to be both a mother and a father to his beautiful young girls. He's doing the best he can to cope with this terrible loss but their grieving process has really just begun."
Lesley says Trina spent her life caring for others including Lesley's children.
"She loved children so much and fought hard to bring her two girls into the world. She wanted nothing more than to be a mom and now she doesn't get to watch them grow up."
Through CHYM 96.7's partnership with the Waterloo Regional Police Association, Adrian's family received gifts cards to Old Navy and Toys R Us for both of the girls, a gift card to the grocery store as well as an assortment of restaurants, passes to Great Wolf Lodge and $500 to assist with their Christmas bills.
CHYM 96.7 has been accepting nominations all month long for families who could use a little lift so stay tuned for more amazing stories.
