Despite the pandemic prompting many of the classic winter events to close across the region, Waterloo is still planning on holding a couple while following health guidelines.
The annual Wonders of Winter event, happening tonight has been adjusted to ensure the safety of visitors during the pandemic. Organizers are inviting residents to check out the light displays in Waterloo Park from 5:30 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. every night until Jan. 1. The park will feature over 100 colourful displays, with over 100,000 light bulbs.
Even though the fireworks, horse-drawn trolly rides, family photos with Santa, hot cocoa and apple cider, and festive songs and stories will not be available, everyone is invited to check out this festival of lights while maintaining physical distancing.
Coming up this Friday night, the City of Waterloo will be lighting up the Christmas tree in the Public Square with the help of everyone's favourite jolly man in red.
