12 more cases of COVID-19 in Waterloo Region

Region of Waterloo Public Health is reporting 12 new cases of COVID-19 on its information dashboard.

Eight more cases were added as of today, while four cases were added to yesterday's count.

This brings the total caseload in Waterloo Region to 1,692.
There are no additional deaths related to the virus, keeping the total at 120.

The active caseload stands at 153, with one patient currently in hospital.

Ten total outbreaks are in effect, including three childcare centres and an active outbreak at Kitchener-Waterloo Collegiate Institute.

84% of all cases are considered resolved.

Below is the provincial COVID-19 breakdown for Sunday: 

  • 49,831 total cases (491 new) 
  • 112 patients are currently hospitalized with the virus
  • 42,796 resolved cases (85.9 per cent) 
  • 3.8 million tests have been completed
  • 2,839 deaths (two new) 

In a tweet, Health Minister Christine Elliott said there are 137 cases in Toronto today, with 131 in Peel Region, and 58 in Ottawa.

Elliott added 63 per cent of the cases are people under the age of 40.
