Rangers alums host car wash for Farwell4Hire

Ben Fanelli rallied several former Kitchener Rangers players to raise money

It didn't take long to rally the troops.

Former Kitchener Rangers captain Ben Fanell always wanted to do something for the Farwell4Hire campaign, and once he saw video of Farwell still putting in some work during the COVID-19 pandemic, Fanelli came up with the car wash idea.

"I admire Mike Farwell so much for his willingness to really not wait for rules and regulations, and just acting," Fanelli explains.

He says it was a perfect excuse to get together with some former teammates, and do something great for the community, while keeping physically distant.

Enter Ben Thomson, Ryan Murphy, Frank Corrado, Julian Melchiori, Michael Catenacci and Gabriel Landeskog.

"I think the best part is also getting together outside the hockey space, just talk about life and where we're at outside of hockey," Fanelli said.

"It's been hilarious talking about old stories, and even seeing how each other look, and that we've changed and grown up.  It's been fantastic."

All the Rangers spent a few hours washing cars in behind the Kitchener Fire Department on Strasburg Road.

It's unknown how much money was raised, but if you're looking for ways to contribute to the Farwell4Hire campaign, CLICK HERE.
