It's really a storybook type ending to the latest 50/50 draw organized by Rangers Reach.
Deanna Carney, a frontline worker at St. Mary's General Hospital in Kitchener, claimed the $34,598.00 jackpot in the raffle, which also supports the hospital's foundation.
At the cheque presentation, she said she may have let out "a little scream" after receiving a phone call informing her she had the winning ticket.
The Baden resident purchased the ticket to celebrate her new job, in the Cardiac Cath Unit at St. Mary’s.
She and her husband plan to pay off a new vehicle they bought in the fall, get new patio furniture and maybe get their kids new iPads.
“This partnership not only contributed financially, supporting the community’s access to cardiac care, but it keeps our brand in front of the community at a time when we really need everyone to stay engaged with health care on a number of fronts." added Susan Dusick, CEO of the St. Mary’s General Hospital Foundation.
