A 14-minute video from a former Kitchener Ranger is detailing drug use at a team party a few years ago.
Eric Guest spoke on his Instagram account this week, sharing a story that in 2016-17 campaign, he and a fellow rookie teammate were locked in a bathroom by a veteran on the team.
"(The veteran teammate) said 'you're not leaving the bathroom until you do cocaine," Guest recalled.
He says when you're young in the league, "you listen to what the older guys tell you."
He goes on to say the video is just him recounting personal experiences, and is not naming anyone by name.
"I'm not trying to bash any team, organization or anything," he said, "Maybe some people can get something out of it and relate to it."
The Rangers released the following statement on Tuesday afternoon:
The Kitchener Rangers became aware of the allegations made by Eric Guest for the first time last night. These allegations involve former players with our team and are extremely serious and potentially criminal conduct.
As a result, we have contacted the Waterloo Regional Police Services. We will participate with the Commissioner and the League in their investigation. Until the investigation is complete the club will be making no further comments.
Not easy stories to tell but it’s just the truth. I want to shed some light on some of these things.— Eric Guest (@eric_guest) June 14, 2020
