NEWS RELEASE
CITY OF WATERLOO
*************************
Originally scheduled to start on October 4, 2020, non-aquatic registered recreation programs are cancelled in an effort to help slow COVID-19. Online registration for these programs is closed. Those who have already registered will receive an email with more details including refund information.

Drop-in programs are still available through the current pre-registration process. Visit waterloo.ca/activewaterloo to browse available drop-in programs. Staff will continue to monitor drop-in class capacity and implement other temporary measures as needed. We ask residents to continue to sign up for drop-in classes in advance to help control class sizes.

Please note, swimming lessons are going forward as scheduled.

The City of Waterloo is committed to keeping the health and safety of our community a top priority. With Region of Waterloo Public Health indicating a new wave of the COVID-19 pandemic has started, it is more important than ever to follow a safe and responsible approach to providing recreation services.

We thank the community for your patience and we will provide updates if there are further adjustments or changes.

Friendly reminder about procedures and protocols

Please be mindful of COVID-19 procedures and protocols when visiting City of Waterloo facilities.

Do not enter the facility if you:

  • have a fever, new cough, shortness of breath or a combination of muscle aches, fatigue, headache, sore throat, or runny nose
  • have travelled outside of Canada within the last 14 days
  • have been in close contact with a person with a confirmed or probable case of COVID-19

To all others, please wash your hands or use sanitizer before and after every visit.

You must maintain physical distancing protocols at all times in the building.

Regional council by-law requires the wearing of masks inside City of Waterloo facilities. You must wear a mask when entering and moving through any facility. The by-law exempts children under the age of five and those who are unable to wear a face covering (due to a medical condition, etc.).

Facility ambassadors will be onsite to direct traffic and answer questions.

Thank you for protecting yourself and others and helping us keep our facilities open.
