Athletes making a decision on what university to attend next year will have to wait.

U SPORTS has put a three-week moratorium on all in-person recruiting.

The decision, made by the board of directors, was announced on Monday morning.

"This moratorium includes all in-person recruiting visits (on- or off-campus official or unofficial visits) as well as the scheduling and rescheduling of any future in-person recruiting; no travel arrangements can be made with prospective student-athletes during the moratorium." said a release.

But recruitment by phone, text, and other non-in-person mediums can continue during the moratorium.

"U SPORTS believes that this is the most prudent action to take to protect the health and well-being of prospective student-athletes, their families, coaches and university staff." said U SPORTS Chief Sport Officer Lisette Johnson-Stapley.

A decision will be made in the coming weeks on whether to extend the moratorium.
