Region sees nine new COVID-19 cases added

The current active case load decreases to 98

Region of Waterloo Public Health posted an increase of nine COVID-19 cases on its dashboard Sunday morning.

This brings the new total up to 1,983 for the region since March.

Some revisions were made with one case removed from Thursday and Friday, and one case added to Saturday.


The number of active cases has decreased to 98 from 106 since yesterday. 

Here are some other updates from the Region's COVID summary dashboard on Sunday:

  • 1,765 resolved cases (89 per cent).
  • 120 related deaths in the region, unchanged since August 21.
  • Six cases are currently hospitalized. 

10 outbreaks are active: Sunnyside Home Long Term Care (one in staff), Sterling HeightsLong Term Care (one resident), Doon Village Retirement Home (one resident), Fairview Mennonite Long Term Care (one resident), Conestoga Lodge Retirement Home (two staff), a congregate living setting (six cases), a dental services facility (three cases), and Wilfrid Laurier University (19 cases). 

An outbreak was declared over at JF Carmichael Public School, and new outbreaks were declared at The Village at University Gates Retirement Home - Emma Unit, and The Village at University Gates Long Term Care Home.
