Region of Waterloo Public Health has provided an update on the COVID-19 outbreak at Conestoga Meat Packers.

"What we've seen is a significant slowing down of the number of positive cases that are coming in - which is a good sign," said the Region's Acting Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Hsiu-Li Wang.

On the Region of Waterloo's website on Friday, the dashboard indicated a total of 91 workers at the Breslau plant have now tested positive for COVID-19.

However, 70 cases have already been resolved.

Dr. Wang also had a clarification on the total cases.

"Even though on our website [you see] 91 cases total which are associated with this outbreak - [that's] not necessarily due to transmission in the plant... but have just occurred among those who work at Conestoga Meats."

Dr. Wang added Public Health and The Ministry of Labour will continue to monitor the situation, but the decrease in cases indicates the measures that Conestoga Meats put in place are working.
