Premier Doug Ford said on Saturday his government will amend newly announced stay-at-home restrictions to allow for playgrounds to be open.

"Our regulations will be amended to allow playgrounds but gatherings outside will still be enforced. Stay outside safely," the premier wrote in a tweet Saturday.

The move comes as municipal leaders, parents and medical professionals questioned the government's move to close outdoor facilities.

Expressing his approval of the latest amendment on social media was Waterloo Mayor Dave Jaworsky, who encouraged local residents to "enjoy (very) safely and (very) responsibly", calling the change from the province a "good adjustment."
