Food trucks are getting the go ahead from Public Health to start hitting the road again, but under certain conditions.

The KW Food Trucks group have put out a limited schedule, with only a select few trucks heading out this Monday.

They are teaming up with their church partners once again, but under advisement from Public Health, it's one food truck per parking lot. Physical distancing still applies among other health measures the trucks must follow. No tables or chairs will be set either; it is a strictly takeout-only affair.

Sandor Dosman, owner of Fo' Cheezy Gourmet Grilled Cheese is taking his time returning to the roads. He, like many other food truck owners, have had to change up their operations amid the pandemic. Some had physical location they could do takeout orders from, others have had to settle for limited runs. Dosman was able to work out of the Ambrosia Corner Bakery location in Kitchener for his food items.

"Fo' Cheezy itself, I'm probably not going to send out for another few weeks or so. Kind of just wait and see what happens with the pandemic," he said.

Despite food truck season typically starting in May, he and many others have already seen a dent in their profits. Many events have been cancelled, including key summer events and festivals, where they make much of their money.

"It's definitely a worry, that is going to be a down year for sure," he said.

The KW Food Trucks group is made up of 30 mobile kitchens, but only seven will be starting up on Monday. More food trucks are expected to return as we approach summer and more restrictions are lifted.

The following churches will have a food truck set up in their parking.
