Region of Waterloo Public Health reported four new cases of the coronavirus on Wednesday morning.

It means there have been 1,329 cases since March.

Five more cases are now resolved, improving that total to 1,146.

There are 67 active cases, which is one less than Tuesday.

Meantime, no additional deaths have been linked to COVID-19 since June 29.

116 people have died, with 95 of those deaths related to an outbreak.

Waterloo Region is also not dealing with any active outbreaks.

During a media briefing on Tuesday, the region's acting medical officer of health said local numbers are trending in the right direction for considering moving into the next stage of reopening the economy.

Waterloo Region's mask bylaw, passed earlier this week, comes into effect on Monday.

Here's the provincial breakdown for Wednesday:

  • 36,178 total cases (118 new)
  • 31,805 resolved
  • 2,700 deaths (nine new)
