Concern for locals after London party sparks COVID-19 outbreak

Health officials in London say eight people at a party tested positive for COVID-19, and with contact tracing, said those people also went to large gatherings in Waterloo Region

If you were at a private party in London earlier this month, you may want to listen up.

The Middlesex-London Health Unit says the bash had more than 10 people present, and since then, eight have tested positive for COVID-19.

Dr. Chris Mackie, the medical officer of health for that region, says contact tracing has shown that those who tested positive went to other large gatherings in Waterloo Region and Hamilton before tests came back.

"Some of the cases have had symptoms, some of them have been tested as only a matter of precaution," he said, "But at this point, none of them have severe illness."

The eight infected are six women and two men, all in their 20's.

As a result of the positive tests, the Middlesex-London Health Unit issued a warning to people to not gather in groups of more than 10.
