A number of business supports are coming online in the City of Waterloo.

Starting next Tuesday, June 1, eligible businesses will be able to apply for the city's COVID-relief Community Improvement Plan, offering grants of up to $2,500 to cover off expenses that include building and space alternations made throughout the pandemic to comply with COVID-19 restrictions.

"The program areas cover costs associated with improvements to physical distancing measures, businesses operational adaptations, improved ventilation, technology expansion, and outdoor expansion," the city said in a release.

Meantime, the city's Support Our Local Economic Recovery --- or SOLER --- program has returned for the 2021 outdoor season.

This program allows businesses to get temporary land use opportunities for things such as patios, patio expansions, pop-ups and additional signage.

And the popular patio program is back in Uptown Waterloo, and applications are now open for businesses to apply to expand their outdoor spaces.
