Major lane closures in effect through St. Jacobs roundabout this weekend

Base asphalt work will start Friday night and wrap up Sunday

Be prepared for traffic headaches getting in and out of St. Jacobs this weekend.

Base asphalt work will be getting underway at the St. Jacobs roundabout at 8:00 p.m. Friday.

Regional officials tell 570 NEWS motorists will not be able to get from Sawmill Road to Arthur Street or from Arthur Street to Sawmill Road.

On top of that, traffic will be reduced to one direction through the roundabout itself as the asphalt is removed and then the area repaved.

"Removal of the asphalt is scheduled to be completed on one side of the road at night, then repaved the next day. Once one side of the road has been completed traffic will be directed onto that side of the road and the remaining work completed, once again with asphalt milling being completed at night and paving during the day," says Project Manager Larry Van Wyck.

It is expected the area will be fully reopened on Sunday.

Mark you calendars for the weekend of September 12th as well, a complete closure of Arthur Street and Sawmill Road is scheduled to start at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 12 and end Monday, September 14th at 6:30 a.m.
